Young drivers – Project results

Dear young people, do you text while drive? Are you aware how many problems can this cause to you and others?

We are bringing you results of the project “Young drivers”.

The project revolves around the idea of educating the youth about the problems of texting while driving. It is little known that texting while driving is 6x more likely to cause an accident than driving drunk. Text messaging makes a crash up to 23 x times more likely, causes a 400% increase in time spent with eyes off the road and it is the most dangerous distracted driving because it involves all 3 types of distractions: visual, manual and cognitive. The participants of the project were young people coming from Lithuania, Croatia, Russia, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Latvia.

First part of the project was preparing an awareness campaign on dangers of texting and driving which took place in Vilnius during mobility. Second was implementation of awareness campaign on dangers of texting and driving in Vilnius during mobility. Implementing awareness campaign online took place on social networks of participants profiles, organisations profiles and network of contacts between all this accounts and profiles during mobility and until the end of the project.
