Hey! I am Levi and I am a volunteer from Romania at Urbana Mladez. I am here to work on a project named “Youth mobility – Cro – EU”, where we have the aim of helping you to find out more and more about opportunities regarding traveling at low cost and volunteering but also to present you different cultures by showing you stories, pictures, and why not food recipes.
In this article I will present you a traditional recipe from Romania land of Bucovina. Bucovina is one of the most attractive touristic destinations in Romania, it is known for its monetarist, breathtaking landscapes and strong spirituality. Today’s recipe comes from this land of beech trees and is made by all the grandmothers especially in the winter time. I like this dish because it can be served as a main dish but as a desert also.
The nutritional values of this dish are amazing, it gives you power and all the vitamins you need to stay strong and healthy like a beech tree. This dish contains vitamins, especially B6, B12, C, A, beta carotene, minerals like: calcium, magnesium, potassium, fibers, proteins and some well needed Carbohydrates.
– 4 cups of wheat
– 1 cup of raisins
– 1 cup of walnuts (optional)
– 1 cup of honey
– grinned crust of 1 lemon First wash the wheat in cold water for 3 of 4 times, and once more in hot water then put it to boil at low fire. Let it boil without letting the water to fall. If necessary add more water while boiling. When the wheat is well boiled add the honey, raisins, walnuts and the grinned lemon crust. Put a cap on the pot and let the mixture cool slowly for 1 hour.
Enjoy your traditional romanian meal! Pofta buna!
