Urbana mladež is excited to announce the upcoming Erasmus+ Youth Exchange project “Dance More Stress Less”, a unique initiative that will bring together young people from across Europe to tackle stress and mental health challenges through dance. This project, funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ KA1 program, will take place in Zagreb, Croatia, from 04.11. to 12.11.2024.

About the Project:

The “Dance More Stress Less” project will unite 58 young people from Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, and Poland, all of whom share a common interest in dance and well-being. Hosted by Urbana mladež (Urban Youth) from Croatia, the project partners include:

  • Nacionalno dvizhenie obedinenie zarazvitie na sporta i sportna kultura Fuutura, Bulgaria
  • Fundacja See Beyond, Poland
  • Babilon Travel, Romania

In today’s world, young people face growing levels of stress, isolation, and anxiety, all of which have been made worse by the increasing cost of living and financial uncertainties across Europe. These challenges have led to a significant decline in the mental health and well-being of many young people. The “Dance More Stress Less” project is designed to provide a supportive environment where participants can use dance—specifically Bachata, a lively and social Latin dance—to alleviate stress, improve their mental health, and form lasting social connections.

Why Bachata?

Bachata is not just a dance; it’s a vibrant form of self-expression that fosters community, connection, and joy. By learning Bachata, participants will enhance their social skills, develop teamwork, create lasting friendships, and engage in cultural exchange. The physical movement and creative expression involved in Bachata also have numerous health benefits, including:

  • Improving physical fitness
  • Boosting mental well-being
  • Enhancing coordination and balance
  • Increasing self-confidence

Project Objectives:

  • Identify and address the key stressors affecting participants.
  • Educate young people on how to recognize and manage stress.
  • Use Bachata as a platform to teach effective coping strategies.
  • Promote the benefits of physical activity and social engagement for overall health.
  • Encourage intercultural understanding and foster a sense of EU identity.
  • Showcase the opportunities available through the Erasmus+ program for European youth.

What to Expect:

Participants in the “Dance More Stress Less” youth exchange will engage in workshops, discussions, and dance activities aimed at promoting well-being and building connections. The project will not only teach participants how to manage stress but will also provide them with an opportunity to develop new friendships, learn more about different cultures, and explore the many benefits of the Erasmus+ program.

By the end of the project, participants will leave with valuable life skills, a Youthpass certificate, and a deeper understanding of the importance of mental health and social connection through creative expression.

Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting Erasmus+ Youth Exchange!
